Well, actually the President (on the occasion we actually have one) has the leeway to take action in response to the attack on an ally without a declaration of war.
Paul’s repeated references to “neocons” and his apparent dislike for the Israelis are troubling. He over-simplifies by implying only those two entities want to bomb Iran.
I hear you, but you almost surely know that the neo-cons and the Israeli’s in general terms would love to see Iran bombed. That’s what they are all about. I’m an anti-neo-con! I think it’s almost all about domestic policy and if we get that right 90% of international issues take care of themselves because we are so strong and so rich that other countries will have a hard time even concieving of how they can successfully take us on.
As far as fighting without a declaration of war . . . yah . . . we have to be able to respond to an attack. The Congress should also vote as well. Formal declaration every time we send troops out to kill people from other countries. Constitution says the Congress declares war.
