Pit maverick Republican Congressman Ron Paul against President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 election match-up, and the race is – virtually dead even.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds Obama with 42% support and Paul with 41% of the vote. Eleven percent (11%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

There won’t be double digit unemployment if you institute massive tax cuts. Harding and Reagan both got us out of double-digit unemployment, each in about three years.

True enough. But the Barbary Pirate actions were in response to direct attacks on Americans by Barbary Pirates. We’ve never been a “punch me again” kind of country, that’s for sure. As far as the Louisianna Purchase goes it is of dubious Constitutionality . . . may have been the first step down the slippery slope we’ve traveled to an unlimited Federal government. And Manifest Destiny (War of 1812, Florida) is long gone as an issue.

"Don’t you wish mainstream Republican’s would talk to thier acquantences about Republican candidates?"

For one thing, I'm more Conservative than a mainstream Republican, and I'd be happy to talk to my aquantances about Conservative candidates, and we do. But I draw the line talking about someone who thinks WE'RE responsible for the reason muslims hate us.

Screw them and screw that, and I'm not going to let someone waste my time bothering me about it.

Thats why my friends and I told the guy we'd punch him in the mouth if he started up about Ron Paul again.

I guess you guys are so used to the Ron Paul posters that you can’t take someone at face value. Meanwhile I think the anti-Paul crowd here is the biggest collection of jerks I’ve found at Free Republic. Makes me want to support Paul.

"You are losing the cat and mouse game over and over and over if you really are a conservative."

Actually we just won. Only the standing dead body of liberalism has not fallen over and hit the ground yet. The shot that killed all of liberalism was fired by your own people. You libtards went ahead and took the shroud off your pet projects, your out of control spending theories, and your cradle to grave rights agenda. Everyone knows what is planned by you cats. You went to far for it to ever be considered progressive. You went for the goal line and now we are going to have you dragged off the field in a body bag. Your political life is over. We will dismantle all the wrong agenda and theoretical experimentation of the past 70 years. Thanks for standing up to be seen. "Yes We Can."

Has Ron Paul done anything to insult or harm our troops? I don’t think he’s trying to hurt the American military men or families at all, and if you have any support that he does want to harm them I’d like to see it. I’ve been asking for facts throughout this post and want them. Instead there seems to be a reflexive, and obnoxious, insulting of a pretty conservative guy in Paul and anyone that even asks about him instead of attacking him. It’s really overboard. I supported Hunter, then Thompson, then Huckabee last election, but am getting bashed here over and over by a bunch of jerks.

Sorry, MN, but Reagan was 30 years ago. The party hasn’t come close to nominating a conservative since. You are blind.

"Harding and Reagan both got us out of double-digit unemployment, each in about three years."

That's just it. It will take a full year after the election to put the new tax laws into effect. There will only be 10 months for the new tax cuts to take effect. So Republicans will probably get some of the blame in the lame stream media. We need to take a proactive approach to dismantling the spending agenda of the Obama regime. We need to do something that makes it clear that we are fixing the failed illusion of wishing things will work. Liberals never saw the successes of tax cuts and they still don't believe in it. We need to educate the public while taking action.

I don’t know that threats of violence against someone supporting a candidate are the way to go. In fact I know that they are not, especially with a guy like Paul who is saying a lot of things that people need to hear. You should be ashamed for threatening to punch him not proud and bragging about it.

Well, I’ve said that these elections in 2010 won’t matter much unless those going in have the strongest of steel in their spines, because they will be attacked and demonized for two more years. For them to accomplish anything, they will REALLY have to be the party of “no” and just survive the attacks.

I hope you are right. I worked a tiny bit in a special election last night and the liberal money was way more powerful than the activists (a sad few) that actually did anything. It was a jerrymandered district but I wasn’t happy with the number of people helping out. People talk a lot more than they actually do . . .

The poll sample was taken at a Ron Paul rally!!
