Pit maverick Republican Congressman Ron Paul against President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 election match-up, and the race is – virtually dead even.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds Obama with 42% support and Paul with 41% of the vote. Eleven percent (11%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Please show me one poll that has Palin and/or Romney beating Zero. I haven’t seen any. Most of them have Zero beating any Republican by eight or nine points.

Paul was not for the Iraq war. That’s all I know about his foreign policy. He’s a more isolationist type guy. I like that. We need more of that. We spend too much on our military and military operations. Treaties bind us to war in too many places. We can no longer afford our social programs and military commitments. We face financial RUIN. I think the people that act as if we are still fighting the cold war are whistling past an economic graveyard.

Not only are you a Liberal idiot, you can't even read. Here's exactly what you wrote:

I’ll vote for a Democrat EASTER BUNNY before

I reiterate: You're a Liberal idiot.

Who’s the newbie? I’ve been a FReeper for many many years. Different account. And now . . . rather than post a fact (ANY fact please!) you try to threaten me? Oh, I’m scared. Boo hoo.

Debt is debt regardless of whether it's spent on interminable welfare programs or interminable wars.

There is some truth to that, but Ron Paul seems to take it too far, into an unreality in which we never face problems which are not as clear-cut as he might like them to be.

I have some sympathy for being much more isolationist than we have been, but recognize that international trade bumps into that a bit. For instance, we could not tolerate Saddam invading Kuwait for good reason. He was attacking our trade partner, and therefore our trade.

There are certainly wars we have fought, however, that had no national interest implications of any significance: Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, etc.

Oh, I'm not going to go digging all of that up right now. I'm getting ready to go on a trip.

I've seen those things here on FR and on Drudge.

My point is, what does it matter? We're two and a half years from the election and it's all just garbage.

I don't even put much trust in polls just before an election; why on earth are people giving credence to any coming out now??

I see the dangers with Paul as well. But the safe play (think McCain) isn’t safe anymore as well. Romney is a “safe” play in that he’s a liberal Republican with few principles as well. I’d pick Paul over Romney in a minute. I think Paul believes in smaller government.

True. I haven’t seen anyone beating Obama in any poll...they’ve all been pretty close, but not quite even.

Dittos on your post.

I would add that Paul also acts like a rabid anti-semitic when it comes to Israel. Not good.

I do love many of his conservative fiscal stances though and his originalist intent on the constitution. Bottom line...Paul is not electable.

Well, honestly, politics does involve attacks on your opponents even in primaries. They should be fair attacks.

"Please show me one poll that has Palin and/or Romney beating Zero."

2012 polling now is just sucker bait. It's meaningless without the economy, as it stands after 2011. BTW, Republicans are going to be in power then. So the media table will turn on them in an attempt to blame them for what will probably be a continuation of double digit unemployment. Funny, right after the next election the recession will not be over after all. Just watch. Obama will try the come back kid trick.

Yah, I’m for Palin right now. I just don’t get the factless void that the anti-Paul crowd seems to live in. I’ve been begging for any support from anyone for what they say or believe about Paul and . . . nothing. Smears. Threats. It’s over the top.

I gave you a fact, his foreign policy is suicidal.
___________________________________________________________

Do you know how many foreign countries US troops are in? If I remember something Buchanan wrote it was over 100. And we have something like 10 or 20 seperate treaties that can get us involved in a major war — treaty commitments — where we either back down and lose face or get our kids killed, often for no major national interest. I think that policy is suicidal. But hey, keep the factless void of your opinion and this thread unviolated.
