Newt can’t attract a large following and that translates into campaign donations. I hope he enters the race. He’ll make all the other candidates work harder.

I agree. If you add up the first & second-place choices in this straw poll, it's a dead heat between Gingrich, Palin and Romney (or whoever Team Bush ultimately puts forward).

Sarah is in good shape with the activists and we know where she stands with the rank & file. :)

But, once again, Paul probably isn’t running for president in 2012

Yes he will run. Why else would he engage in all these bulk purchase of tickets for these conventions?

The irrational RP hatred is difficult to understand. It seems a lot of FREEPERS like their chains.

“That’s simply bs. While I disagree with many of his positions, he is the only repub who is speaking out correctly on the economic issues.”

He’s a porker no credibility.
He’s insane...no credibility.

He’s into appeasement on terrorist (that makes him my enemy)

How is this a half truth:

At the event Paul called on voters to reject the two major political parties and vote for one of the third-party candidates with him that day.

Joining him at the podium were Chuck Baldwin, Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney, and Ralph Nader, Independent.

Geez. Read your own quotes, will ya? Slam Palin all you want for McCain. But there's no way in hell she'd ever encourage anyone to support those three nuts, especially Baldwin the Truther.

Face it, your boy Paul is the King of the Kooks.

Senators are often nominated, but rarely elected. I actually think the people are onto something with their general preference to vote for governors. The skills and personality for a good legislator may not often translate to a good chief executive.

You clearly haven’t been around FR enough if you think THAT’S left-wing politics. What a whiner.

We can’t do better than Sarah Palin, it is truly rare that we have a conservative this well positioned, this early, and with a real hope of winning against the establishment machine, and we will need it to keep Romney from queering up this primary like he did the last one.

‘I guess they need to take “Conservative” out of that group’s name.....’’

“Conservative” is not in the name of the “Southern Republican Leadership Conference”.

Yes, Newt makes everyone in the room look stupid...like when he did that commercial with Pelosi selling us out on “climate change”. The people he made look stupid, of course, were his supporters. Don’t kid yourself, Newt is not all that special intellectually. He just shines in comparison with intellectual midgets like McCain.

There are worse candidates out there, but Newt is yesterday.

One thing people are tired of is a non Presidential figure, being dragged into Presidential conversations.

It is a huge distraction and time waster when we are trying to discuss viable candidates for the 2012 primary to have to play this girls tea party fantasy, that Ron Paul is in the mix.

I find it scary that Newt the buffoon got all most as many votes as Sarah.

Yes, I agree. Sarah is in a good position and she knows her strengths and weaknesses. She’ll evaluate both and I am confident that she will make her own decision when she’s ready. There’s plenty of time between now and the November elections and her stock continues to rise. Nobody comes close to her. The media continue to demand that she talk policy. She’s too smart to show them anything but the palm of her hand now...lol.
