Apparently it was a Polish owned TU-154 Tupelov and was the Presidential aircraft. Those old TU’s are deathtraps, I was shocked when I learned that Poland was still using one. The EU is handing out money for all kinds of nonsense projects and they let top political leaders use those old crates. Nobody should ever step foot into one of them, they should all be grounded and trashed.

From the photo in post 64 they look like 727 knockoffs. It’s been quite a while since I have seen a 727 flying around this neck of the woods. If it is indeed a plane built around the time of the 727 it would be quite old these days.

I was shocked also to hear that. Most likely it did not have new avionics and might have been incapable of CAT 3 landings.

After the 2nd landing attempt they should have diverted to another air filed.
