A coworker and her husband adopted two twin boys from Russia when they were two. It was a horrible experience for them, and they really did their best. The boys were so unmanageable they had to be institutionalized in this country. Unfortunately, she became widowed. She visits them, but they can’t come home for any length of time. At least they weren’t sent back to Russia.

Those kids are given very basic care if they are lucky.

My niece was adopted from Korea. She had wonderful foster care there. She had no problems bonding with her parents.

My friends children also adopted from South Korea and the little girl, even though she has a cleft palate, has been well cared for, too bad the Russians are so awful with their child care.

Our littlest one was adopted from China when she was 1...she is now 9 and flourishing....smart as a whip and very athletic....and she never stops singing...!

I can remember when I first bonded with her in China....on the day of the Chinese adoption....Most of the kids in the group where crying hysterically when they where handed over to the new parents....but Rachel was very quiet and reserved...just taking it in....she remained that way until dinner that evening....where she threw all her tableware onto the floor....I reprimanded her...she than cried hysterically....At that point I picked her up and walked away from the table....while walking away I readjusted her in my arms....the slight bump into the air stopped the tears and she started to laugh hysterically....

From that point on...whenever I was not in eye shot of her...she cried...she refused to leave my side.....but now at 9...she is becoming a Mommy's girl....oh well....hopefully she'll come back to me in her 20's...

In Short...she is everything and more than was ever dreamed...she is our gift from God...

Some adoptions have happy endings.....
