Yep, it’s magic.

It’s all over town that Betty Sue had a baby that morning. The grapevine is a wonderful thing. Aunt Babs and Granny Grunt kiss the new mom and baby and leave the hospital at a near gallop to get down to the local newspaper. They burst into the front door and Cindy the Secretary is at the front desk with her pad and pencil ready to take down the latest news. When he hears the excited voices, Editor Bob peeks around the corner from the back room and says yes he’s already heard the good news and tells the ladies he’ll get it in the next edition of the paper. Granny beams brightly and bids them good day as she grabs Babs’ arm and out the door they go.

See, magic happened every day in small town America in those days!
