I see purpose, but decentralized purpose. As someone pointed out, not unlike Adam Smith's invisible hand which is how the free market works and how our country was born. America didn’t spring up because of top-heavy authority, but because of bottoms-up ardent belief in the values of liberty and indivdual happiness. The things that man doesn't give you and can't take away. It's a wonderful start in a very hopeful direction.

Their leadership was in large part responsible for the difference between our revolution and that of the French, which ended up being ruled by those of the (unfocused) mobs who were most aggressive.
