What a great speech. Four and a half minutes well worth it and sharing with others.

One of our nation's greatest science communicators is raising red flags big time about what Obama is trying to do to NASA!

Wake up America! Our future is indeed "fading" unless we fight for it.

I’ve seen him speak in person at the Natural History museum on Central Park West. He’s really good, really smart, really focused. A treat.

A truly brilliant man. A pleasure to hear his analysis.

The only way to eliminate American exceptionalism is to eliminate, (or idle), exceptional Americans.

NASA has been transformed into a politically driven organization. But, NASA is still capable of great things, Obama will see to it that doesn’t happen.

If Obama has his way, America will be a welfare state, unarmed, unmotivated, and mired in mediocrity.

Finding empassioned people to communicate science to the general public can be difficult. Sagan had that star quality to connect. Tyson has it too.

I agree with Neil, NASA is something that can do far more empowering than just looking down, we need to look up and to dream that is the best way to empower the next generation.

Obama wants an equal - all Detroit - America.

Broken and harmless

Worse that that... vulnerable.

Why would that muslim wish this on the world let alone America?

If I could have Lunch with one Person, it would be Neil DeGrasse Tyson. The guy knows his stuff about science and space.

It would be intersting having lunch with him and sharing some of my ideas with him.

Dr. Tyson knows his history. That, probably more than anything else, drives his understanding of the sciences and his ability to relate scientific theory and principles to every day happenings. I highly recommend his "Death By Black Hole" collection of essays.

Uh, this guy thinks private enterprise can’t go “outside of lower Earth orbit” and that only NASA can do this.

Although I have enjoyed space shuttle missions for years, I do not believe that NASA and other government-funded entities are something we should justify as “only half a penny” of each tax dollar.

“It’s about the effect of NASA on our nation.” Uh, yeah, right. That’s a perfect reason to give NASA whatever it wants? “Making dreams come true,” he says. “How much would you pay for the universe?”

This is the kind of touchy-feelly cr@p that justifies the health insurance takeover and every other government program in some way.

Defund the government and stop putting money toward non-Constitutional things.

He thinks NASA should “Expand the frontiers” not dominate space travel, while private space industry takes over from NASA each step of the way after NASA has blazed the trail.

I think he sees NASA as the “Lewis and Clark” Expedition of our era.

That is what I got from it.

People voted for idiots like O, McCain and Sen. Bill Nelson. They are just getting what they voted for. NASA is like the post office anymore. The public cares more about ball games on TV.

“Defund the government and stop putting money toward non-Constitutional things.”

NASA is as strategic an entity to America as the US Marines.

The nations that lead on the frontiers, dictate the course of human history. That is worth doing collectively as a nation.

Nobody is saying don’t do private enteprise.
But yes, private enterprise is not drawing aim at beyond low earth orbit. Only NASA can do that kind of thing right now.

Maybe those pushing for succession and revolution should start pushing Texas and Florida to take over the funding of NASA. That would show they are serious...

“The public cares more about ball games on TV.”

Some of the public. Some have their heads down.
Not all.

I hope that asteroid blows right through him.

He has intentionally disbanded NASA to disarm America technologically and militarily. Do you know or have any idea of the technology that NASA has generated that has made it down to consumer level? I think the common household computer started there... the list of accomplishments is endless through “stuff” discovered while solving other problems. It is thinkers like those at NASA and outside industry that gave America huge advantage.....

But now, Barry-o wants us all to be technological citizens of Detroit.

Totally backwards asshat thinking, (other than to achieve his nefarious goals)

If that’s what happens, I’m moving to Texas and joining starfleet. LOL

Leave the liberals to stew in their own self created muck while we take to the stars! LOL

For military things, I would agree NASA has some benefit, but none of these programs about “exploring the universe” has anything to do with that.

What does the International Space Station have to do with our defense? Everything done there is shared with Russia and other countries.

You say, “The nations that lead on the frontiers, dictate the course of human history. That is worth doing collectively as a nation.” I say, “Fine, then go underwater and create vast cities there.” I mean, how can anyone justify colonizing outer space somewhere when we don’t even have a city under our own ocean?

Get your head out of the clouds and stop justifying gross spending by government “just because.”

NASA worked best when it was ran by former air force folks and bright engineers, now a days it is ran by pencil pushers, whil I agree with Neil that it needs more funding and in it’s reasons. There still needs to be some major house cleaning done at NASA to get rid of the Unions and Government Bammycrats.
