Christians? Bing is in bed with Microsoft...founded by an avowed atheist. I agree with getting away from Google...but not because of the holy holidays but because of their increasing instrusiveness.
Here’s a good engine as well: The ‘scroogle scraper’...lol and they are in a full fledged war with google. They also do not ‘track’ searches or dump cookies on a system.
Bing is lurking on my computer now...which was not my choice. It’s in the address bar and I’ve been trying to figure out a way to eliminate it. I don’t like any company ‘adding’ on to my system when I have no say so in it. Microsoft has no respect for us a users and they are in bed with the U.S. government.
You may have installed the Bing toolbar when you downloaded other software. There was likely a check box option to unclick.
You can uninstall Bing by going to your contol panel and selecting “uninstall programs”. Scroll down and search for the Bing toolbar. You can remove it from your system right there.
Bing did not just insert itself as a search bar. You probably authorized it in an install or have a new PC. Java updates are installing it.
It is simple to remove by just uninstalling or hiding it.
In IE, you can “Manage Search Providers” and disable Bing if that’s what you want to do. You can also add your own.
It'll still be "in" your system, but not operational.
I just tried the scroogle scraper... I LIKE it! Thanks for the link!
It's just a computer. In most cases, there are numerous configurations you can make, that will let you set your preferences. Microsoft makes the software (Windows and Internet Explorer) so I guess they get to set the default options if the user doesn't chose anything. But you can undo that by clicking it all away, to your own style and preference.
