ALISO VIEJO – About 400 Aliso Niguel High students, who walked out of class at about 8 a.m. Friday to protest the 10.1 percent pay cuts that have been imposed on Capistrano Unified teachers by the school board earlier this week.

The walkout and protest came less than 48 hours after the Capistrano Unified school board formally authorized imposing a 10.1 percent pay cut on all 2,300 teachers and other certificated employees in the district.

The decision was intended to end months of bitter negotiations with the district's teachers union over how to achieve pay concessions intended to help the district close its $34 million budget deficit.

But it also could lead to a strike in the coming weeks. The teachers union said it will weigh its options at a general membership meeting in two weeks, after spring break.

California’s teachers unions using YOUR children to extort more of YOUR money.

Brilliant!

And how is this a sacrifice to the students to do this? The teachers certainly won’t punish them as they were protesting on their own behalf.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Something tells me that very few of the parents of these children pay any taxes to finance the schools.

Supporting the teachers is fine. Have the students come up with a way to pay them. There’s no money.

Nice professional astroturf signs from the sleazy Teachers Union for the little mush-for-brains.

My district had a walkout yesterday. The principal said the kids had a right to protest.

I’m very sure that all of those students came up with this idea, and planned and executed it, all on their own, with no input whatsoever from the unionized teachers.

These youts just need all their grades to be determined by the Marxist grading system. That would be education enough for them.

The students were obviously encouraged to do this by the teachers. The only thing these kids are learning is how to put on condoms and be sluts and how to get an abortion through the school nurse. At least the ones not on “medical” pot.

The parents should pull the kids out for an anti-tax protest, I am sure they will be excused.

Looks like the teachers did not have to work that day. Sounds like a good reason to dock their paycheck another day's pay

When I was in the 8th grade, we had a student walkout. They wanted to raise school taxes 70%; after an increase the year before. If they didn't get their way, the first things cut were sports/music. Oh yeah, but the teachers were going to get a raise.

The school was not happy with our walk out though and they called the state police. The taxes did not get raised, the teachers did not get a raise, and the programs weren't cut. Our parents sure gave the school board hell though.

I'm sure that the students would be willing to help out. Mandate that they each chip in $25.00 per week for starters.

Gee, I am so impressed that school kids feel strongly enough to ditch class. I bet that really took a lot of arm twisting to get them on board.

Why is this news?

If the liberals want to hide behind the children, they might want to cut down on all those Planned Parenthood clinics.

I am just saying it might hurt business....

Plus Mexican kids just aren’t all that photogenic and they would probably ask to be paid if some “gringo” told them to protest on their behalf.
