The difference being is that the student (a gay rights activist) signed BYU's Honor Code and openly violated it whereas Mr. Reid, is not a student at BYU and has thus not signed the Honor Code.

A univeristy that actually strives to teach their students as opposed to indoctrinate them, will provide speakers from all sides of an issue and will be polite to those speakers who disagree with the majority view of the university. That's the way its supposed to work.

As to the accusation that BYU has not given Glenn Beck a platform to speak, here's something you apparently missed:

Glenn Beck VIP Banquet Sponsored by the BYU Management Society

Start: 10/25/08 - 12:00 am

The BYU Management Society, Utah Valley Chapter is proud to honor Mr. Glenn Beck as the inaugural recipient of the PIONEER IN LEADERSHIP AWARD

So, Harry Reid was allowed to speak his opinion but Glenn Beck was given an award.

Oh, WOW....while I don't condone the actions of Hardy, the fact that one can strain at gnats and swallow camels, in excusing Reid and the implied approval of his actions by the mormon church is appalling!

So, the fact that Reid hasn't signed the BYU honor code excuses his having NO honor at all, even though he still holds a temple recommend?

Okayyy...!

Apparently from your post, there is no difference in the actual damage done by Hardy versus the actual damage done to the country and every single citizen in it by Reid. Your approval of Reid STILL being "worthy" to perform temple ordinances says much, whether about you personally, or about your church is not my call, but one would expect that some "worthy" priesthood holders would be examining their outlook and their faith.

Good for Beck. While I'm not fond of his persona, I approve of some of the things he has accomplished, and applaud his award.

The "BYU Management Society" is a third party scholarship fundraising group of alumni, and not controlled by the Church. This $20 a plate event with a few hundred is nothing like the thousands in attendance at the BYU student body events for Reid.

Harry Reid adressed the entire BYU Faculty and Staff at BYU, which IS controlled by LDS leadership.

I am not concerned with BYU's honor code, but the LDS Church's lack of enforcement for Reid on STANDARD TEMPLE RECOMMEND INTERVIEW QUESTIONS. Lack of discipline is tacit approval. As Ezra Taft Benson used to say "The middle of the road between good and evil is evil."

Ezra Taft Benson to Harry Reid in one generation....And led by an unchanging God ?....I don't think so.
