At a raucous, campaign-style speech in Portland, Maine, President Barack Obama criticized Republicans who want to repeal the new health care lawbut he also took aim at pundits and journalists eager to sum up public opinion on the measure.
Every day there is another headline declaring that the nation is still divided over health care, or that polls, which show opposition to the measure, havent changed, he said.
Its only been a week, he told the supportive, packed crowd. Can you imagine if some of these reporters were working on a farm? You planted some seeds, and they came out the next day, and they looked, and nothings happened! Theres no crop! Were going to starve! Oh, no! Its a disaster!
He added: Before we find out if people like health care reform, we should wait to see what happens when we actually put it into place. Just a thought.
