Exactly, Palin gets a pass for supporting McCain while Jane Q. Freeper would get flayed.
Very few people are giving Sarah a pass on her current position on the Illegal Immigration issue.
IF, as the weeks and months go by, and she does not clarify her position as being totally against Amnesty and for totally shutting down the border, she will lose a large part of her support and will become ineffectual as a power-broker, much less as a candidate for POTUS.
That being said, she has been unequivicol about being against Amnesty.
There is still much to be clarified by Sarah on this issue.
And many of those against her right now, have always been against her even when her position on Illegal Immigration was completely unknown.
Much of the angst and declaration against Sarah is nothing but opportunistic behavior on the part of people who have never supported Sarah and/or have always supported some other candidate like Ron Paul, Myth Romney, Huckabee, even Hunter.

I think it's possible to like Sarah as a person, and support what she is doing, (except for stumping for McCain) and yet not climb onto the Palin-for-President bandwagon.
That position does -not- make one a RINO, a DU mole, or a "Paulbot".
