A crowd of about 50 people confronted County Commissioner Michael Wiener on Monday, demanding his resignation for having forwarded a racist joke through e-mail.
Wiener apologized to the protesters but has no plans to resign. "I made a mistake," he told the crowd. "I can't take it back." Present at the rally were members of the University of New Mexico Black Student Union, League of United Latin American Citizens and College Democrats. They carried signs with slogans such as "No More Wieners in Office" and "Racism is not a joke."

OL - That’s a good pic.
You know what, the guy must be stand up though. A crowd of protesters gather against him, and he goes out to meet them personally and face the music. It’d be nice if Obama or Pelosi or Reid did that. Can anyone imagine them showing up to a TEA rally??
I was hoping this was the big Weiner from New York.
Funny Wienerschnitzel commercial.

Absolutely ....Took a lot of guts
TChad I personally know the guy and you are right he is an idiot.
Well, since you know the guy, do you think is he a racist?
No he is not a racist, he just doesn’t think at times and does idiotic things from time to time.
Yeah. I was stationed in Germany in the sixties. When I got back to the states I ran across a chain restaurant called “Die Weiner Schnitzel”. Imagine my disappointment when I found out they only had hot dogs.
