In the picture at the source the wingtips appear to be vertical.

Goodness.

If you happen to spy that sight whilst looking out your passenger window, it would be best to put down the SkyMall magazine, and pickup a Rosary - you're gonna need it.

EVERETT, Wash., March 28, 2010 – During ultimate-load testing at Boeing’s Everett, Wash., facility, the wings of the 787 Dreamliner were flexed upward by approximately 25 feet (7.6 meters). Engineers are reviewing the detailed test results and report that initial results are promising. The test exposed the airframe to the equivalent of 150 percent of the heaviest load it is ever expected to see while in service.

Almost forgot about this Dreamliner. When was it originally due for flight? A long time ago it seems. And what ever happend to the Euro EADS monster competitor? The whole field of commercial flight seems to have gone dark.

Though they've still got to go through the data...but that's great news for the 787 program.

The wings flex quite a bit during normal flight, too.

When they bent the wings on the Triple-7, they bent them until they broke. The article didn’t mention if they did that with the Dreamliner.

I was on my way home from Seattle on Friday afternoon. You can see Boeing Field from I-5, and one of the Dreamliners was there, getting ready to taxi. It was next to the new 747-8 Freighter, which is one big mother-hummin’ plane.
