There are a few conservative atheist FReepers and there’s a big difference between them and the atheists on the left.

Conservative atheists have respect for Christianity, the left hates Christianity and Judaism but loves and respects every other religion just for spite.

I think any atheist without ‘hang ups’ about Christianity would have to have respect for Christianity.

Any person of intelligence and reason would show respect, if not for it being a positive influence in peoples lives, at least in respect under the principle of freedom of conscience.

Possibly one of the reasons for the ‘selection bias’ for loudmouth atheists being of the worst sort.

As a conservative atheist myself, I think William F. Buckley said it best:

"Can one be a conservative and not believe in God? Of course. Can one be a conservative and hate the idea of belief in God? Of course not."

The only Christians I truly have a problem with are those who occasionally post on FR to the effect that atheist or agnostic conservatives are some sort of liberal fifth column and somehow dangerous to conservatism.

Conservative atheists have respect for Christianity

Yep, conservative deists as well. ...like a few of our Founders. And all have respect for our Judeo-Christian heritage. Plenty of them around these parts. If qualified, I'd vote for any of them without qualms.

Agreed. I used to be an atheist, but I always had respect for Christians and their moral code.
