You might call that “honor”, but I see it quite differently.
In the post in question, you pretty much focused on yourself with a half baked mention that “Old Man” was meant as a compliment. Reading back, it was nothing of the sort in context.
The fact that you served is admirable, but your attitude is typical of the new brand of Military. It must be Urban, house to house Warfare vs. an outright perimeter defense/firefight against thousands of enemy trying to over run your position at once.
The effect and outcome either have has a direct effect on the veteran who lived through it.
