And by your logic we should just do nothing to help Israel.
God trumps troops.
Psalm 122
A Song of degrees of David:
I was glad when they said unto me:
‘Let us go unto the House of the Lord’.
When our feet stood within thy gates, O Jerusalem;
O Jerusalem, built as a city that is united together;
For there the tribes went up, the tribes of the Lord,
as a testimony of Israel,
to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
For there are set thrones of judgement,
the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
they that love thee shall prosper.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will say now,
peace be within thee.
For the sake of the House of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.
Israel specifically asked President Bush how many troops we would need, where we’d like to hold our troops in Israel and how many IDF planes/pilots we wanted. Israel was asked to stand down, in fact we didn’t even fly over Israeli airspace when heading to Iraq.
Bush was aware having one single Israeli soldier would have brought others into the war against Israel and us (Jordan even said they would attack amongst other Muslim countries) causing a battle on two fronts, Iraq and Israel. He requested Israel stand down. Be not involving Israel, Bush was able to keep the war in Iraq without insurgents being sent in from various countries, but not an official attack on us or Israel.
Israel agreed (though provided intelligence for us as they always have) with the condition they would not become involved militarily unless they were attacked themselves - which they were, three or four times, yet Bush talked them out of retaliation.
That’s history and can easily be verified. Btw, the exact same conditions took place during Desert Storm and Operation Freedom. Israel was not happy about being told not to become involved this time around - even when we invaded there was concern from the administration that if Israel was attacked and retaliated the entire region would be at war. Contingency plans for just that scenario were and still are in affect (aside from what oZero has removed - he’d welcome an attack on Israel).
