I just saw Fla. AG Bill McCollum on Greta tonight. I taped it and then transcribed it roughly: Greta: "If the court were to agree that the mandate were unconstitutional, would it knock out the entire health care bill or just that one particular provision being tossed out?" McCollum: "WELL, WE THINK THAT IS THE CORE OF THE WHOLE BILL AND I BELIEVE THAT IT WOULD KNOCK OUT THE WHOLE BILL, BUT THE REALITY IS, IT IS A HOUSE OF CARDS, BECAUSE, IT IS ALL PREDICATED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT YOU REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED; AND IF YOU CAN'T REQUIRE PEOPLE TO BE INSURED, THEN THE METHODOLOGY OF TRYING TO SOLVE THE HEALTHCARE PROBLEM WOULD FAIL. AT LEAST THIS METHODOLOGY." He said the states are being told to provide additional services, set up ins. exchanges, etc., and the Federal govt. has no authority to do so. He said this is unprecedented. Also said 2-3 more DEMOCRAT AG's ARE GOING TO PROBABLY JOIN THE SUIT AS WELL AS MORE AG's. He said the lawsuit procedure could take anywhere from a few months to two yrs. and does not happen quickly and whoever loses would no doubt appeal.

Greta is coming on at this hour (1am est) on Fox if you wish to hear him say all of this. WHOOHOO!
I expect many businesses will stop offering health insurance. By then, only the government will be offering them. Also, insurance companies go out of business, which means more unemployment. I think it will prolong the recession.
It can’t happen soon enough. Hopefully when it gets to the Supreme Court and gets knocked down, Sam Alito will write the Majority Ruling! How sweet that will be!
Additionally, it will be years before the case is heard. In my opinion the best way to deal with this is electing folks who will pass legislation to counteract/not fund it.
that’s the part that pissess me off too. If someone is unemployed like my neighbor, will he still have to pay? If he has to, how?? With monopoly money?
In the end... I think the courts will allow the states to regulate the mandate... and I bet most states mandate health insurance...
Currently I’m paying more than $9000 a year out of my own pocket for my health care - my employer is paying around $8000 a year. If the ObozoCare bill isn’t stopped I expect my costs to increase so dramatically that I will not be able to afford to have health care or I won’t be able to afford a place to live, one or the other.
“Additionally, it will be years before the case is heard. “
There are two different suits... Virginia filed their own since they have an actual law that bans the mandate... they also sent it through the “rocket docket” so there will be an opinion on this from a district court by the end of the summer...
“I BELIEVE THAT IT WOULD KNOCK OUT THE WHOLE BILL”
Great but just don’t say anything about meeting your Waterloo — that was curse based on false hopes.
The OBOZOCARE bill requires that all people in the U.S. must buy health insurance - whether employed or not.
I saw Newt on Fox tonight and he said if the Republicans win a majority in November, they can begin to defund some of this stuff and then when we elect our next president he can repeal it.
Or... your employer won’t be able to afford to keep you on the payroll... I feel your pain...
More likely my employer will stop offering any health care plan and force all of us to go to the Gov program.
Wow. If that happens, you pick up another $4000 in premium... I hope this thing is repealed!
So, is Newt’s comments anything akin to the comments Dick Morris made before the House vote where he guaranteed they didn’t have the votes to pass this BS bill?
I’ve heard people ARE under the impression they will get “free” health insurance now , as well. So is this really so?
My family in BC are laughing already. Sheesh, why did I leave Canuckistan? In canada, each province..you can AVOID the monthly premium by stating in a letter that you are “simply unemployed” and they will waive it for you.
