CA Senate Candidate De Vore on Fiorina & Health Care Bill

Today Chuck DeVore released this statement about NRSC Chairman Senator John Cornyn statement to the Huffington Post about not wanting to repeal parts of the health care bill.

DeVore for California Today Called NRSC-picked U.S. Senate Candidate to Repudiate NRSC Chairman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DeVore for California today called for NRSC-picked U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina to repudiate NRSC Chairman Senator John Cornyn's statement that he does not seek a full repeal of Obamacare. Sen. Cornyn's comment was made to the Huffington Post, and may be read here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/23/nrscs-cornyn-we-wont-call_n_510232.html

Sen. Cornyn has since issued a statement claiming to have been "misrepresented," but the Huffington Post quotes him as having said: "There is non-controversial stuff [in Obamacare] like the preexisting conditions exclusion and those sorts of things. Now we are not interested in repealing that. And that is frankly a distraction."

Chuck DeVore, candidate for U.S. Senate, said, "It's unfortunate that after the Republican Party stood united against the Obamacare takeover, the NRSC Chairman would preemptively surrender on repealing it. His statement was out of step with the country and his party: over 100,000 Americans have signed the Senate Conservatives Fund petition for repeal, over 14,000 Americans have signed the Club for Growth's Repeal It petition, and poll after poll shows a decisive national majority against the President's healthcare takeover.

"Carly Fiorina has boasted that she was directly recruited to run by Senator Cornyn. She should now tell Californians whether she agrees with her D.C. sponsor's views on Obamacare. It's a good first step that she finally signed the Club for Growth Repeal It pledge yesterday -- nearly four months after I did, and too late to affect the national debate on Obamacare's passage. What Fiorina must do now is show that she's not the captive of the career politicians who inspired and encouraged her candidacy. She must have the courage to repudiate the NRSC Chairman's statement.

"I call upon Carly Fiorina to follow my lead, and more important, the lead of the American people, on this critical issue."

Leisa Brug Kline, DeVore for California campaign manager, said, "Chuck DeVore is the only candidate in this race who has stood strong against Obamacare from the beginning. Carly Fiorina pretends to be a fighter against the President's healthcare takeover, but the fact is that she's on record saying she agrees with the President's 'goals' -- and just six months ago, she was saying she had no opinion on it at all. The sad fact is that her principles are driven by events and expedience -- and by the D.C. career politicians who manufactured her candidacy. If she can't stand up to the Senator who recruited her now, it will tell us all we need to know about the kind of Senator she would be."

Chuck is getting my vote and support. Unfortunately Fiorina has a ton of money.

When the Democrats stand up in Congress and say “Repeal? What do you want to repeal the part that says you can’t be turned down for a prexisting condition or that your kids can stay on your policy until their 26?” The Republicans need to say “YES! All of it! Repeal all of it!

Then they say they want to repeal the taxes, fines, cuts, and mandates. That they want to add the 17,000 new IRS agents to our unemployment roles and repeal the mandate for every American to have to buy insurance or be fined or imprisoned. List all the bad stuff.

As far as the few benefits in the bill, it’s not now or never, this bill or no bill, despite what Obama and Nancy Pelosi say. Those benefits can be reintroduced in a new bill, a totally clean bill that won’t break our economy for generations to come, radically increase our taxes, or fine or punish Americans who don’t comply.

Every Republican needs to get on the same page with this stuff or we will lose the PR war

If the GOP surrenders on any of this, it will guarantee one of two things: a) we are going to become a marxist/collectivist nation or b) there is going to be a shooting civil war all because the GOP didn’t have the backbone to stand up and fight for the American people. The people are going to fight for themselves instead.

Well said. Very little to add to that, except that if the GOP surrenders, some red states will have to take a serious look at secession-cause I don’t know what other alternative we will have.

How our state could end up with two total RINO clowns for Senators is beyond me. Cornyn needs to go. Too bad he’s not up for re-election in 2010. He has already started raising money for his re-election in 2012 though. His undying support of Crist was way over the top and now this idiotic statement.

Hey there 3C, I’ll gladly accept a De Vore ping every now and then.

How’ve you been? I see a lot of your comments as I browse though FR threads. I say to myself, “Self, that is one like-minded dude.”
