Recd phone call today from patient in one of my doctor client offices - said he wanted to change his appt to end of week because he has new insurance and by then BO will have signed the bill and he won’t have pre-existing any more. BTW, the patient works for one of the largest law firms in the city!

Not surprised at all. We need to document and publicize these changes. The patient may be thrilled, but that is the same thrill one gets at a casino when you win a little jackpot. At the end of the night, most people have lost. Eventually, this insurance company will have to stop issuing individual policies to prevent this type of abuse. In this guy’s case, his glee may be short lived because we will have to see the rule as to exactly when the pre-existing exclusion will become illegal. By then, this company may just stop selling or even shut down that sector or its operations
Now that they broke it, they own it.
