I don’t know why you’re do condemning of this guy, but it sure gives one food for thought.
You can justify it to yourself all you want, but you’re going to be the only one who buys it.

By his poor and reckless choices (which he had completely at his own control and no one else's) -- he did abandon his family and put them second and left them to the welfare of others...
It was all by his own poor and reckless series of choices.
