Real Clear politic's Jay Cost reporting this on Twitter.
Et tu, Stupak?
At this point, I kind of hope that they will pass it.
I’m sick of them fighting for it and cramming it down our throats, and I’m ready to see it shoved right back up their ass.
I think we're also being delusional to believe that this will be repealed in any substantive way, legislatively. At best, the money that was cut to Medicare will be restored, and the excise tax will be repealed. But, all that will mean is that the deficit would skyrocket.
Our hopes all lay now with guys who where black robes to work.
CNN saying Stupak still a no ?
....and a total Punk!
Stupak is setting himself up to be the ultimate pariah. If he has caved for an EO, he will rightly be seen as a Judas by the pro-life community. The pro-choice crowd already loathes him and caving wont change that.
So hes worked himself into a spot where he simultaneously gets to be 1) The Guy Who Enabled Pro-Abort Healthcare and 2) The Guy Who Nearly Derailed Healthcare. Well played, Stupak.
Of course his real mistake was made long ago when he decided to throw in with the Democrats. It was inevitable that theyd require him to betray his most deeply held belief. Hes like a character in a Greek tragedy. This was written into the plot from the beginning.
What a pathetic, tragic doofus.
Yes, I’m wondering if MSNBC was punked.
RE: “A Democrat sell-out? Im just stunned by this news”
************
I’m pretty much resigned to this thing passing now; but what I really want is make sure it is totally partisan — NO Republicans can vote ‘yes’ on this horror. Just one turncoat on our side will allow the leftists to say it was ‘bipartisan.’ JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE!
Hope the for best, plan for the worst!
Keep your powder dry!
It’s over....
Politico has Stupak as a yes, “according to senior Democratic aides.”
We are done as a nation.
Send this to your Republican Rep.
When this hits the the floor for a vote tomorrow, 100% Repubs need to vote NO within 5 Mins and head out the doors to the lawn to be with the folks.
WA State Rep. Brian Baird is also now a yes!
Does anyone here honestly, in their heart of hearts, expect anything else from any Democrat. Of course they were all going to vote for this monstrosity. The holdouts are just smarter than the others, because they are getting their sweetheart deals. Oh, and if anyone believes the sweetheart deals are only “pork” for the holdouts’ districts, dream on. Without any doubt whatsoever, there is under-the-table money for these individuals changing hands in some form or fashion. Don’t believe it? Just remember that idiot Jefferson who got caught with cash in his freezer. And remember Duke Cunningham, politically a solid conservative. Do you really think those were isolated cases?
If this is true and 216 or 217 is reached, it will be interesting to see which of the “yes” Democrats switch to “no” because their vote is no longer needed. They’ll do so thinking that in the upcoming campaign they will be rewarded for voting “no” — an untenable position that most will, hopefully, see through.
re: “I never fired a gun in my life but I want to learn and man the barricades now!”
**************
This thing passes and another surge in guns and ammo purchase will be seen over coming days/weeks. This bill is only another step in the leftists’ march to totally ‘transform’ America as we knew it. Obama said as much in his own speeches before the election. I made my arms purchase the day after the election.
Don’t worry about not having shot a gun before — go buy one and take a few lessons and practice — it’s fun and oh-so-important to have this ‘skill’ now! And join the NRA while you are at it —
(for the record, I am female, middle-aged) LOL
Too late. The damage is done. Elections have consequences, and conservatives who stayed at home on November 4, 2008, are equally to blame, if not MORE so!
Most recent: Update V: CNN reports that Stupak told them directly that hes still a No.
(I am not holding my breath. I'd be shocked if Stupak and crew don't cave.)
Screw Stupak, this was predicatable. He’s a Democrat first.
Now what have we learned? Does anyone care to defend the concept of the “moderate, Conservative Democrat” any longer?
This is a war. War of ideas for what kind of country we are going to have. No place for stupid RINOs or those who think a piece of paper with an executive order on it will change anything.
