That’s what they’re saying, but they will have no assurance that the senate will pass their reconciliation bill. This can’t be good news for them. It brings up issues of trust between the two houses again and that’s going to lose them votes.

I don’t think Deem and Pass is being abandoned because they have the votes. I think it’s being abandoned because they realize they cannot legally accomplish it that way. The senate bill cannot be passed at the same time as the reconciliation bill, because they seem to have determined that the senate bill has to become law first. So, they have to pass the senate bill and have it signed by the president and THEN pass the reconciliation bill.

Anyone who thinks that this will go anywhere beyond Obama signing the first bill is delusional and a good number of Dems have to know that.

I believe the pro-choice beeches would not vote for the Senate bill if BO promises Stupak’s group an exec order to not cover abortions.

My, my, they are in a mess, aren’t they?

“The House must approve the Senate’s version of the heath care bill and President Obama must sign that legislation into law before the “fix-it” bill, known as reconciliation, can come into play.”

Ok...so does that mean the House will have to pass the Senate version, it gets signed into law and, as well, the House has to “trust” that the Senate will have to go back at some point and “fix” what they don’t like?

I agree with you here. Pelosi’s new tactic just sets them back to the beginning. The senate is under no obligation to pass her ammendments unchanged. Any democrat that is voting FOR the Senate bill has no assurances of anything. What worries me now is this executive order regarding the abortion issue that they are working on. If Stupak gets duped by it, then Piglosi will have the votes to pass the Senate bill. It will not end there however as many lawsuits over the Senate bill are being drawn up by the states and other organizations.

So IF the Senate bill passes, there will likely be no reconciliation bill and that loathsome bill will become law upon the Presidents signature ?
