Our preacher today was talking about how the Jews turned away from God. Even to the point of worshipping false gods and sacrificing their children to the false gods.
God gave them warnings (through the prophets) but they would not listen. Finally, the Jews were sent into exile for 70 years (Babylon). Of course they came out much the better for it. Until they stopped listening again and the process repeated itself.
America is in pretty much the same place. Worshipping false gods (take your pick of several), and sacrificing our children to them.
Churches that have gone looey have brought all sorts of trouble upon and around themselves.
Here is an article about the link between abortion and child sacrifice promoted by Wiccans. Sounds crazy, but apparently is actually being promoted by “neo-pagans”.
