1. “My stupid graphs” showed that the number of government workers decreased during the time Republicans controlled congress. The number of government workers is much more accurate than dollar figures in determining who really grew the government as there are little things like inflation, mandatory spending ,military spending, social security cost of living increases , more seniors retiring and getting more social security checks etc.

2.You want to talk about tax rates? Republican congress, Bush and Reagan decreased tax rates. for the 60 years democrats controlled congress democrats/Marxists created most of the thousand of government agencies and increased tax rates to over 70%. Reagan cut government regulations and tax rates to 28%. Go ahead and name the NUMBER of government agencies that The Republican congress created. I can name thousands of government agencies and programs that the Democrat congress ( circa 1930 to 1994) created and that were already in place when Republicans took control, practically all of them the SSI,medicare, medicaid,welfare, HUD,HHS,EPA, FEC,FCC,FDA, CDC, dept of education , dept of energy and thousands more.

The number of government employees per thousand population actually decreased during Bush's presidency and during the time that the Republicans controlled Congress. Of course the liberal mainstream media ran stories every day how the Republicans were increasing government size ("spending") by record amounts.And government educated "conservatives" who have no clue about anything including economics bought that lie every day and so got angry and turned against the GOP which was the liberal media's goal.

Any "spending increases" were for mandatory spending increases mandated by the government machine and agencies the Democrats built since the late 1800's starting with the government schools. Also the Afghanistan and Iraq wars,9/11, and inflation were the "spending increases".
