Texas may just skip the lawsuits and go straigth to secession. Doubtful. Too complicated. What would all the senior Texans do that depend on Social Security and Medicare for their livelihood? Sure TX has lots of resources and ocean ports and could certainly be on their own from today forward, but think about what it would mean to anyone half way through life or towards the end. If you had US based investments now you would be offshore. You would no longer be able to get your SS check unless you made arrangements to move back to the USSA for 6 months a year(???) and you certainly will not be getting any Medicare reimbursements for your TX based doctors.

We could offer phased down concessions.

By Michael O’Brien and Jordan Fabian - 03/21/10 02:23 PM ET

Republican lawmakers took to the balcony on the Capitol’s south front to rally protesters against the healthcare bill.

GOP members unveiled a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag to a crowd one GOP lawmaker estimated numbered in the thousands.

The crowd, chanting, “kill the bill,” was met with thumbs up and some salutes by a rotating group of Republican congressmen.

Since Saturday, some protesters have directed insensitive remarks at African-American Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) and openly gay Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.)

Republican leaders have denounced the remarks.

“Nobody condones that at all,” House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said during appearance on ABC. “There were 30,000 people here in Washington yesterday. And, yes, there were some very awful things said.”
