For those of you who missed the Democrat's chicanery in yesterday's Rules Committee hearing - the one that was supposed to discuss the amendments to the bill and set the rules for today's so-called debate:

3/21/2010 - News: Rules Committee Reports “Supermax” Rule, Sends Government Takeover of Healthcare to Floor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA), Rules Committee Ranking Republican, said the Democratic Majority has reported a highly restrictive rule that will send the Democratic Majority’s government takeover of healthcare to the House floor with just two hours of debate and a self-executed manager’s amendment.

This “Supermax” rule also gives the Speaker unprecedented powers to crack down on and prevent procedural and intervening motions.

During the hearing, the Committee Majority rejected key amendments to provide for an open debate process, require the Speaker to conduct a Call of the House upon final passage, and eliminate special deals like the Louisiana Purchase and special funding for a hospital in Connecticut, all by a vote of 9 to 4.
