Pelosi Rejects Stupak Deal to Remove Abortion Funding From Senate Bill
Washington, DC -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has, once again, rejected a plea from Rep. Bart Stupak to agree to a deal to remove the abortion funding from the Senate health care bill in exchange for support for it. Stupak and other pro-life Democrats have been hoping to strike the abortion funding in exchange for support.

Pelosi is a BABY KILLER!!!!!
They also have the diocese that funds them, and probably have investment income.
They are the catholic version of ACORN
But you are probably right..helping the poor is business...BIG business. Nowadays anyway.
I’m not thrilled with Stupak, who must know that Pelosi is evil and a liar, but at least he is standing firm so far.
Don't count on it.
and probably have investment income.
And what ... you have a problem with investments? Communist much? Investments must be managed, in any case.
Both of which distract from the truth, that for the vast majority of non-profits (including religious orders), fundraising is an active pursuit.
You're barking up the wrong tree. There's lots wrong with this wretched woman, but this isn't part of it.
The big question...do their taxes go toward any of this socialism or are they tax exempt. My bet is that the orders don’t pay taxes...but they want everyone elso to PAY MORE AND MORE AND MORE TAXES.
Are you trying to pick a fight?
This is ridiculous.
< wait for it >

< Drumroll >
PAY LOCAL INCOME TAXES, STATE INCOME TAXES, FEDERAL INCOME TAXES, and FICA ... Just like you and me.
I thought Peelozi said there is no abortion language in the bill? Like trying to nail Jello to the wall.
Where did I say I have a problem w/ investments? The church and all of its branches have investments. They also get money from parishinors..through special collections. They have nun orders and brotherhoods come through periodically to talk and collect. I don’t have a problem with their good works, but I do have a problem w/ the nuns supporting this, and 2...thinking it is just fine to up the taxes on everyone else. We’ve always giving generously to the church and it’s causes, but if they are encouraging my taxes to go up, well we might not have much left to give them anything beyond the actual church expenses.
Even if they’ve taken a vow of poverty? How much tax you think they pay?
Mother Angelica is the only nun who carries any weight with me. What does she say about Obamacare?
As a Catholic, I believe that your statement is spot on. 80% of nuns are as you say.
"Family Law." Code for divorce, child custody and male-bashing. Just the sort of things a nun should be engaged in.
Good. So do I.
It's wrong, and it's evil.
And these particular habitless apostate "nuns" supporting it has nothing to do with them choosing to live in personal poverty, or working for a tax-exempt nonprofit, or anything of the kind. You'll find plenty of 0bammunists working in the private sector.
There are many nuns (I almost said "plenty of", but there aren't. We need many more.) who still look like nuns, still act like nuns, and don't support 0bama/Pelosi communism.
The press just ignores them.
Choose your causes carefully, and (IMO, YMMV, IANAFA) give locally. There's no shortage of Catholic Church related charitable organisations that are actually Catholic.
The nuns are as gullible as the rest of the sheep. They believe whatever they’re told.
Mom always said, “Beware the second collection” and no way to the Cardinal’s Stewardship Appeal.
Last time I heard that drivel, it was coming from the Washington Post, and deriding fundamentalist Protestants.
