What I don’t think the Dems appreciate is how destructive this will be for them.
Think about the Colorado gubernatorial and Senatorial races. What about down-ballot?
People will be coming out of the woodwork to vote against these people and none of their colleagues will be safe.

Indeed. I just wasted my time faxing Miss Betsy those very thoughts yesterday:

Congresswoman Betsy Markey 1229 Longworth Building Washington, DC 20515
Dear Congresswoman Markey,
Hi, I just tried to call your office in D.C., but your message box was full, and no one was answering the phone. (Surprise, Surprise, as Gomer Pyle used to say!)
I called because I wanted to urge you to vote for the Senate health care bill, as I wish to see the total destruction of the Democrat party for at least a generation.
Since theres no chance of significant changes being made via budget reconciliation in the Senate, this will be the law of the land. Any promises to the contrary by Obama and his minions are completely hollow and mere attempts at duping naive House members. If youve been truly paying attention to Obamas public statements vs. actual reality, surely you must realize most of what he says are calculated lies. I mean, really, are you going to trust this guy? Once he gets the House to pass the Senate bill, do you really think he or the Senate are going to increase the current fight to a whole new level of animosity to try to push through a bunch of changes that neither he nor the Senate really care about? Why would the Senate change its own bill anyway, and do you really think they want to expend additional energy on such futile attempts and continue to further outrage the public?
At any rate, if the Senate bill does pass the House, massive numbers of outraged voters will inundate the polls this November, sweeping almost every elected Democrat from office at every elective level in most places in our nation. You yourself are already in peril not being re-elected, and suddenly pretending like youre a Blue Dog isnt going to get you squat. If you do vote for the Senate bill, surely you must know you have no chance at all of being re-elected, and that your action would simply be an ideological last gasp, with yourself and the entire Democrat party being sacrificed like pawns in a chess game that probably exceeds their own understanding. (BTW, youre going to have to work extra hard to get enough additional out-of-state union donations to offset donations by outraged voters in your district. Plus, if you look weak enough in the polls, the national Democrats are going to cut you loose anyway, despite any promises Obama may have made to you to the contrary.)
But I digress. I once again urge you to help precipitate the total destruction of the Democrat Party. It will be particularly sweet to me to see absolute control of Colorado by people who are not Democrats. Even better, I expect the Democrats wont return to power for at least a generation, since it takes that long before people forget how badly Democrats govern.
Im not rich, Ive no special interest, and I have not heretofore been particularly active in politics, but I will be contributing several thousand dollars to help do my part in purging Colorado (and other areas of our nation) of elected officials who put ideology before the well-being of our nations economy and our citizens. Ive already put some money on the line, contributing directly to Senator Scott Brown and others, and I truly relish making more such donations in the near future!
(Actually, on second thought, I do have a dog in this hunt. I worked extremely hard all my life, and the only retirement benefit I received was the right to pay to stay on my former employers group health care plan for a few years. And guess what? My health care plan would be taxed as a Cadillac plan, and I wont be receiving any part of the 60 billion dollar kickback youre going to give to your union buddies, either! And me, a retiree, at that! Do you think I can afford that extra tax? Plus, in just a few more years, Ill be forced onto Medicare, and guess what again? Youre fixing to cut a half a trillion dollars from reimbursements to the very medical providers Ill be dependent upon. You think maybe a few more of them will all of a sudden quit taking on new Medicare patients, or simply decide to hang up their spurs for good? Oh, and do you really believe that the Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase, Gator Aid, and hundreds of other little kickbacks in the Senate bill are good for we taxpayers in good ol Colorado Congressional District 4?)
BTW, you might be interested in some of my letters to the editor in the Longmont Times-Call, too. I think Ill submit a revised version of this one, shortly. You should check it out!
Yours Truly,
[Cat Nipman]
