I don’t know that person. Never heard the name before and I doubt it’s someone that a large percentage of people have.
I don’t discount his/her death, but I don’t think it’s a big enough name to count for the three.

“#1 Record” by Big Star contains ‘In the Street’, it was the the theme of “That 70’s show”.
Albert Salmi was a strange case, no previous record or anything, an acting coach. Aaccording to the daughter the wife was dying and the two of them spent the last week of their lives drinking and perhaps sharing her prescription meds. Possible mercy killing, but obviously fueled by the junk they had consumed during that week. The daughter said she knew they were acting strange, but did not think they had gone that far over the edge. I feel odd even discussing this on a thread about Mr. Parker as he was so NOT like that.
My parents bought me a replica of Betsy when I was 5, it shot corks. I still have it, although I have to keep it out of sight as it seems to “scare” some people.(Of a certain political persuasion.)
If you are really interested in Danial Boone era American history I strongly recommend a book called “The Frontiersman” by Alan Eckert. It is a biography of Simon Kenton a contemporary of Boone who actually ran with him a bit. (save his life twice, in fact) He was the quintessential frontiersman and his life was literally a thrill a minute. The book reads like an Indiana Jones movie, non stop adventure and every line in the book is true. The book is labeled historical fiction BUT, Eckert takes everything in the book from historical sources, even the dialogue. (from diaries and such). Non-fiction narrative would be a better description as it read like a novel. The portrait of noble Tecumseh the Indiana Chief and his insane medicine man brother is haunting. Kenton and Tecumseh had a two decade battle going on. Trust me, if you like frontier history you will love this book and probably want to explore the series it is a part of.
Well, sounds like a very successful person.
Not an icon though and not someone who nearly everyone of a certain age would instantly recognize.

Me too. And I loved the shows, knew all the words to the songs and spent a lot of time doing battle with imaginary redcoats. Well ok the neighbor kids weren’t imaginary, only their redcoats were.

I miss old tv. When I go back and see some of these programs, I am astonished by the scripts since they use vocabulary the general population today would not understand. It’s amazing. No, they weren’t realistic all the time, but they were much better written. Route 66 in particular is a revelation.
Gotta love the golden coon skin cap logo on his wine bottles.

My husband and I always glance at each other to see who is going to tear up first, then one of us will start to snicker if the other one cries and we finally end up with both of us laughing so hard we are crying. Never fails.
