SO in the end, the pro-life movement, which pushed the Stupak vote as a pro-life vote, may well have led to the lifting of pro-life restrictions in health care, by forcing republicans to vote for the amendment that led to passing the house bill, even though we all knew the language would never survive.

Excellent point. That is what happens when you have single issue groups who have no general philsophy.

The district in which I grew up sent a smarmy union-backed Democrat back to DC every 2 yrs. like clockwork for a quarter century. In a heavily Catholic town, he never met an abortion he didn’t endorse, and actually had the audacity to keep showing up at Mass and at church events to press the flesh.

I tried to email Oberstar, but his Congressional website will not allow it since I do not live in his district.

Email his chief of staff, Bill Richard.

It's looking as if it's a done deal...by hook or crook.

Another thread mentioned mark Levin will be challenging if the Slughterhouse provess is used. I hope Mark would do the same even if MAO-bama gets it passed thru a vote and imposes this DeathCare on America.

The area up here is at least modestly conservative in terms of “social” issues but has a long history of union support due to railroad, mining, and shipping industries. A lot of people just automatically pull the “D” without even giving it further consideration. In general, the people up here are good people but politically they are imbeciles.

It’s all a farce... they will get just enough to win. That gives them the maximum number to allow votes against it, to try to reduce losses in November.

Fair enough. I guess you don’t have any local groups or anything going on in your area. That’s a shame. It’s also a shame that you’ve given up while the biggest conservative groundswell in our lifetime is occurring all across the country.

What I said stands: If Scott Brown can win Barney Frank’s congressional district, there is no safe seat. Well, maybe Jerry Nadler and a few others, but even they could feel some heat from a frisky challenger. And remember, those guys haven’t fought an election fight in years. If someone came along that was going to give them one, they wouldn’t even know what to do.

But, it’s no use talking to a defeatist. I know, you’ll say you’re a ‘realist’. That’s what all losers say.

Tatze is right.
I called Oberstar and his staff said he as always for the senate bill.

This is crap by MSM trying to pretend people are changing their votes when they are not

Don’t be fooled by this crap. Wow are they desperate
