This cartoon was in the Chicago Tribune in 1934. Look carefully at the plan of action in the lower left corner.
"Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it."
Does any of this look familiar????? Just wow!
This one’s been kicking around for years. And agreed - it is VERY scary. Definitely worth posting every once in a while.
Gives new meaning to the phrase “Been there done that”
BTT
This is the first time I have seen this and it really blew me away!
I agree it should be posted now and again to remind or even show people what Chicago really is about. I’m still shaking my head and I know I shouldn’t be, but I’m speechless!
I guess we all just keep on learning and it isn’t pretty!
You are real late on this one. We have seen it about 10 times.
Thanks for posting this again. It is amazing.
Here’s an old FR thread with an even older booklet written in 1938. Called “The Revolution Was”, by Garret Garrett, a conservative writer back in the day.
Just like your cartoon (well, much longer!), EVERYTHING that Garret describes about FDR can be said about Obama. It is not that unbelievable when one figures that to a marxist like Obama, FDR had the correct, and highly succesful, model to follow. He just didn’t go far enough.

Read “The Forgotten Man” by Amity Shlaes to get the whole historical background on the cartoon chapter and verse.
Second time I’ve seen it. Thanks for posting — this time I saved a copy.
I could highlight every single paragraph from that booklet as an example of what is going on today. Here’s one:
“Until it was too late few understood one like Julius C. Smith, of the American Bar Association, saying: “Is there any labor leader, any businessman, any lawyer or any other citizen of America so blind that he cannot see that this country is drifting at an accelerated pace into administrative absolutism similar to that which prevailed in the governments of antiquity, the governments of the Middle Ages, and in the great totalitarian governments of today? Make no mistake about it.
Even as Mussolini and Hitler rose to absolute power under the forms of law... so may administrative absolutism be fastened upon this country within the Constitution and within the forms of law.”
I’ve never seen it. Thank you for posting.
If I were a cartoonist, I would draw a modern version with the appropriate suspects, and juxtapose the 2 cartoons with the title ‘Times have changed, but Communism’s methods and goals have not’.

The fact that it ran in the Chicago Tribune is doubly ironic. I guess that is when they realized they needed to take over the media.
Same old, same old-note some of the names(Ickes) are the same, although the younger Ickes is not in Obama’s group of red thugs, he was in Clinton’s and is still hanging around ready to become one of the ruling elite.
I AM a cartoonist, and believe me, I’m thinking about it.
I do understand that and have read up on this. That was something my father has harped on me for a very, very long time!
Thank you to all that sent me to other links and gave me extra reading materials. I do miss some of this information and appreciate the heads up!
Excellent find. Thanks for posting it.
