Demonstrations by Secular Turks Spread Throughout Turkey

It ain't going to happen without a fight, I bet.

I believe that these demonstrations are from a couple of years ago. True that the AKP was first elected and then retained control the following election -- but it was with the promise to respect Turkey's constitutional democratic Republic.

Perhaps your right. The bigger question to me is, which side will be more ruthless and unrelenting in pursuing their goals?

I notice in the linked article that much of the resistance movement is supported by women and women’s groups. I hate to think what treatment awaits them in the confrontation.
