Sanger never meant abortion for “good” white babies. It was only for blacks, Jews and other Semitic and “swarthy” races. She even had the “enlightened” W.E.B. DuBois to write in her “Birth Control Review” about the necessity of enforced sterilization for “ignorant Southern Negroes”. So it is an irony, for sure, to see these black faces on TV defending Planned Parenthood.
It comes as no surprise that most PP clinics are found in depressed urban areas, right next to the liquor stores.
My understanding was that Margaret Sanger wanted *birth control* (including sterilization) for blacks and other “undesirables” but that she was actually anti-abortion.
