our “government” is nothing more than a hostile, totalitarian thugocracy. Reading this latest plan of theirs merely proves me right.

The Oath Keepers have started a pro-American movement. Somehow, I don't see our own sons and daughters supporting a government out to destroy everything we hold dear. I believe most will side with their families. The majority of enlistments are moderate or conservative. A progressive/Socialist/communist would never have the courage to enlist.
The military might help the government at first, because they'll be in a state of confusion, but once that dies down and they come back to their senses, I believe they'll side with the people and Constitution they vowed to protect.

When the communist hardliners staged a coup and took the government away from Gorbechov they thought the Soviet military would side with them. The military didn’t.
You obviously don’t know the military very well. The ones I know (and I know plenty, including my son) would NEVER do that. They swear an oath to the Constitution, not a man.

Most of the soldiers I have known in my 30+ years as an NCO and as a member of the DOD has shown you to be exactly wrong. The military will most probably do nothing, but it won't be because they side with the government. If a leader steps up and says that they (Congress) have abrogated the Constitution, there will be many who will be willing to march. We swore our allegiance to the Constitution first, not the President or Congress.
MMmmm. But I do seem te remember Boris Yeltsin sitting on top of a tank as the Russian flag supplanted the Soviet flag. The military did not stand with the old government.
