14 in. LOP refers to “Length of Pull”. In shotgunning, this refers to the measured distance between the inside of the shooter’s elbow and the first joint of the trigger finger. This is in effect the distance between the trigger and the butt of the shotgun. In trapshooting, this is adjustable on some shotguns by adjusting screws, or adding a recoil pad. 14 in. is a general figure for arsenal-grade weapons and means (generally) that any trained shooter can bring this weapon on target with a high degree of accuracy.The Remington 870 is an excellent choice for a defensive shotgun.
Of course, why the Dept. of Education needs combat grade shotguns is another matter entirely.
