What did they accomplish the first time? Better yet, what do you think they were trying to accomplish?
They were shooting for an ego ideal that was a total fantasy. Basically, it is the same story over and over again. They hate god because they want to be gods. In the process they create bigger and bigger failures until they realize they can’t be gods because god does not fail by definition.
Often it just kills them.
