Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) believes his colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is getting a bad rap from state Republicans who have attacked Graham over his work on climate change legislation and other splits with conservatives.
Graham in recent months has been censured by two county Republican parties in South Carolina, where some activists are upset with his efforts to craft a climate and energy bill with Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).
The county activists also attacked Graham for his views on immigration and supporting the 2008 Wall Street bailout, among other stances.
DeMint is among the Senates most conservative members and splits with Graham on the bailout, climate change and other issues. But he strongly defended Graham in an interview with The Hill on Thursday.
I think he got a bad rap, DeMint said when asked about the attacks on Graham back home. There are a lot of people up here who are the problem, but it aint Lindsey Graham.
DeMint said Graham is a great partner in the Senate and one of the few people with enough courage to stand up for things such as tax and social security reform.

He is so far above Romney now, Mitt would be lucky to get an appointment to head the National Endowment for the Arts in a Demint admin.
Wow. Just when Demint was starting to get some great mojo going...he does this. Sigh...
“But he has attached his political fortune to Romney.”
And Palin has attached hers to McCain.
And Cheney is now for rump rangers openly humping in the military.
I could puke.
I really like Jim DeMint. However...
It appears he’s contracted a dose of the “Collegiality Clap” in DC.
That’s why I only trust Hunter 100%
“And NANCY has become one of the worst RINO WHORES in history.
Shows the power of seduction, is the best spin I can put on it.”
Good of a guess as any. Probably spot on.
Well, in my mind...Romney is dead to me...
and DeMint is proving to be unreliable. I’m not giving up on him, but he is trending flat to slightly down.
These morons can’t get it right on GloBull Warming, a policy that should be DOA with all of the anti jobs corporate taxes...they can’t get anything right.
Hunter has never let us down.
I just called Demint’s office and let him know Americans know climate change/global warming is a hoax and trading pices of paper won’t do a thing. But to the cost it will be for average Americans will be huge, and won’t drop the ‘climate’ a fraction of a degree, and that if he continues pushing Lindsey Graham I will not donate another penny to the Conservative PAC he has.......
Well DeMint has always been a global warming critic. That’s why I’m more than a little perplexed.
It just gripes me to no end, because his entire first campaign was “I’m not a politician! I’m going there to pitch in, then I’m coming home! Term limits for me, I SWEAR!”
Lying scumbag.
BUMP
You can do a lot to advance a bill while still not voting for it. That is a common ploy used to fool the rubes.
Although what Palin did was politically expedient if not more loyalty...it is quite a bit different than DeMint.
DeMint has attached his political life to Romney, either seeking a VP bid. He is doing it for political gain.
What Palin did by no means benefits her. It her her with her supporters.
That’s a huge difference.
This story is virtually incomprehensible so I’m willing to cut DeMint some slack.
Hey, DeMint and Graham belong to the same Country Club.
Of course DeMint is going to stand up for Graham before he stands up for “regular Americans.”
All these guys are the same.
They never learn.
Everytime things start to look good for them - they make sure they look for something to shoot themselves down!!
Are they ALL brain dead in D.C.???
Either that or he was lying from the get-go.
Too bad. Minus points now awarded to DeMint.
