In a perhaps-not-unrelated move, universal catalytic converters, and those that are model specific but not certified by the state are now illegal in California; That doesn't surprise me. Best thing Californians can do is ride those people out on a rail.
Here you go. Amazon.com - $50 for a Magnaflow universal (non-CARB)!

How will CARB find out what type od cat you have? Are repair shops required to turn you in?
If I drive to Oregon or Nevada and get a new exhaust do I have to take it off when the nazi dealership reports me to the Gestapo?

LOL ! CARB even makes us use these gas cans that dont leak fumes but spill all over the place when you try to get it to pour. and they make manufacturers sell special chainsaws, lawn mowers and motorcycles that run so lean they burn a piston and make the headpipes glow red ! ! you cant even get a barbeque to grill a steak right because they are CARB compliant
But CARB has gigantic high rise offices in every major city with massive AC units and employees filing their nails all day when they arent busy shutting down small businesses for this or that petty air quality violation, meanwhile the cities dump millons of gallons of raw sewage in the ocean daily
