So this is what it looks like when a mild-mannered, liberal community activist goes nuclear.
President Barack Obama didnt use the n word - or even the r word, reconciliation. But he made it clear hes ready to go to Democrat DefCon4, give the partisan launch codes and inflict Obamacare on the American people at any political cost.
In defending his decision to go nuclear, Obama talked about insurance company abuses. He talked about premium hikes in California. He talked about a sick mom in Wisconsin. He even talked (in extremely modest ways) about Republican ideas like tort reform and fighting Medicare fraud.
What Obama didnt mention was Massachusetts.

Over the last few days, readers have sent a number of e-mails objecting to our focus on reconciliation as the big problem facing the opposition to ObamaCare. Reconciliation is just a ruse, they warn. The real danger is that the House will pass the Senate version of ObamaCare and that Barack Obama will sign it into law. The Senate doesnt have to do anything at that point, except perhaps dodge the missiles tossed across the Capitols parking lot from their colleagues in the House after stiffing them on fixing their concerns.

On today's show, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius claimed that the people of her home state of Kansas are "wildly supportive" of the substance of ObamaCare. Unfortunately, suggested Sebelius, they're just too ignorant to know what's in the blessed bill.
Later, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine didn't deny that the Obama admin had engaged in two sleazy patronage deals, involving Joe Sestak and Scott Matheson. Instead, the DNC Chairman laughed off the cynical, and possibly illegal, arrangements. "Life is life," smirked Kaine.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try, try again.
With Plans A, B and C hav ing failed miserably, President Obama yesterday unveiled his latest "new and improved" version of health-care reform. He says that this incarnation "incorporates the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans -- including some of the ideas that Republicans offered during the health-care summit." Unfortunately, its fundamental premise remains exactly the same -- a government takeover of the health-care system.
Start with those "Republican ideas": Though mostly not bad, they're hardly game changing.
Keep calling yours reps and senators, and call them SOON. Obama will travel to Europe on March 18, and the Dem leadership wants to vote on the bill before then, so time is short.
