But back in those days people wouldn’t let others go hungry I think. They would probably feed them while issuing dire warnings to get busy.

The problem was also that the lazy also did not take care of their assigned fields and animals

I imagine the result was a very stern warning that they would not be helped if they would not produce on their own the second year
