That wasn't the "position" of many of the Obama Derangement Syndrome types back then, right after the election. There were some, but most dismissed it.
However, now that the State of Hawaii has confirmed that Obama was born in Hawaii, many have also shifted over to that argument.
The only problem with that argument is that those who have made that argument in the past, also say that McCain was not eligible either, because of not being a natural born citizen. (mind you, I'm not making that one about McCain, it's others who are... and it's FReepers, as they've told me that...).
But, with this issue of whether Obama is a natural born citizen, even with him being born in Hawaii... you've got a legal argument here with "legal-beagles" on both sides of that argument.
So, the only way you're ever going to get that settled is for the Supreme Court to come out with a decision on the matter. Until that happens, all you've got is simply a "legal position" that others disagree with.
And if that's the only thing you've got to "hang your hat on" -- I know you're going nowhere with this issue, becuase I'm pretty sure you're not going to get the Supreme Court to come out with a decision on this one... they usually let issues simmer for a while and may even go decades before finally deciding an issue like this. Obama will be long gone by that time.
But, I would agree that it would be nice to see it decided one way or another and if I'm still alive when the Supreme Court gets around to it, I'll be interested in seeing their decision and their reasoning.
