I've been here in Ak 20 years; decided back east just didn't do it for me a good ways back. Haven't ever even had a thought of heading back south. This place breeds freedom & independence in ones soul; let alone the hunting, fishing, and no fences as far as one could ever go. Maybe this is what Palin will address? Maybe planting a seed what you all have given up long ago; just possible what people could get back if they only opened their eyes. Just an idear from my own soul.

Met Palin in early 90's, I'm ashamed of all these posts questioning Palin's character & judgment. I wonder how many people really have ever experienced the freedom that still remains up here in Alaska? I'm just glad the wifey and I had the integrity to think about somewhere's better maybe and had the guts to throw it all in and head north. No regrets for sure.

Also: My old conservative neighbor who passed away last fall homesteaded his place in 1942. He always called Jay Hammond the bush socialist; I guess in lower 48 Hammond would be called today's republican.
