“The Big Enchilada!”
That's how a spokesman for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee described the endorsement that came the Democratic congresswoman's way Saturday afternoon. No, it wasn't from a senator or labor union, as important as those endorsements may be to the incumbent from the 18th Congressional district. This one, it turns out, was the biggest enchilada.
“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is a tireless champion for Houston's working families,” President Barack Obama said in a statement released by the Jackson Lee campaign. “That's why we need her back in Congress to help my efforts to bring real jobs back to Houston and the nation.”
What must make the president's words especially galling to Jackson Lee's challengers, City Council member Jarvis Johnson and local lawyer Sean Roberts, is that they challenged Jackson Lee in the first place in part because of her steadfast support of Hillary Clinton in the 2008 presidential race.

As congressional districts go, this one is fairly compact, no? I’m too lazy to check the map right now.
Is she in any danger of losing? I’m guessing no...Obama has to raise his batting average and if he “endorses” safe candidates he can point to an outstanding track record.

This district's demographics have changed significantly since I lived on near its boundary over 20 years ago. There have been lots of condos built in and near downtown for professionals who work downtown. I talked to John Faulk at the 2008 Texas GOP Convention. He says the district could be winnable.

Ithink the district was gerrymandered to include all the black communities in Harris County. This dizzy twit has her aides scan the papers for obits, and then call the grieving family to request that she be allowed to speak at the funeral. Most dangerous place on the planet is anywhere between queen Sheila and a camera...

Yes there is, we have the same problem in Dallas with Eddie Bernice’s Johnson. Help out Paster Stephen Broden, a black conservative republican. He is on Youtube and has a website www.brodenforcongress.com. He is an awesome candidate and needs support.
Peopole in TX must be elated now that Obama has endorsed Sheila Jackson Lee; could anyone have expected any less? I am surprised that she has not changed her name in that it is the same as two Confederate generals that she must loathe.
May Obama’s endorsement for Ms. Lee be as successful as his previous ones in NJ, MN and VA.
I am sure that this pastor is wonderful. That is why he is unacceptable to people in Dallas, TX.

Yes, but her predecessors were Barbara Jordan, Mickey Leland, and there was a short-termer in there somewhere too....I don’t think this one can be called a gerrymander.
I’ll agree that “voting rights” to some is a “gerrymander” to others.
She and her predecessors have won by such large margins that it’s unavoidable to have a district like this one.
Pretty much doomed her to failure.

Sheila Jackson Lee and Barack Obama should go look at the American flag on Mars. That would be a good place for both of them!
