How frightening would it be to awake to the sounds of those sirens, not knowing what has taken place while you slept?
Oh gosh yes...
I would think everyone has heard them before during testing, being a tourist destination they will want things organized, going to be a busy day for the next 5 hours I think.
The sirens just woke me up. Us oldtimers know exactly what they mean. I wondered about that Child earthquake when I went to bed last night. Fortunately, it’s not a weekday and everyone should have time to evacuate. I live up above Honolulu, so I’m fine. Tourists and assorted stupid people - stay away from the beach!!!! All will be well.
My teen daughter and I were at a small town in west Texas getting gas. The sirens went off for a tornado warning. She looked at me with eyes as big as saucers. She had never heard air raid sirens before. I just said,,,”oh my god, those are only in case of nuclear war.”
She went pale ,,then i started to laugh. A Dad’s humor is the *best*,,,
I know. As I would be roused from my Saturday morning sleep, probably only three words would go through my mind there in Hawaii: Kim....Jong....Il.
