Hmmm, I hope other areas aren’t watching this and concluding there’s nothing to worry about, and then the big one hits Japan or NZ or something.

1960 Hilo tsunami, which was caused by a 9.5 earthquake in coastal Chile, less than 50 miles from today's earthquake:
1. Tide increases 4 feet higher than normal.
2. Within 15 minutes recedes to about 3 feet lower than normal.
3. Within 30 minutes increases to ~9 feet higher than usual.
4. Within 1 hour, recedes to 8 feet below usual & increases again to about 10 feet above normal.
5. Over next 2-3 hours, water goes through 5+ cycles of receding & surging 5-10 feet below/above normal.
Yep, lots of people back on the beach.
