This is a matter of modern controversy. The classic date for Daniel’s authorship, accepted by Jews and Christians, is the 6th century BCE. The date you’ve given is one proposed by modernists who wish to explain away Daniel’s accurate prophecies of the Persian, Greek, and Roman empires. However, 180 BCE is impossible. How do I know? Daniel is part of the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, used in the NT. That translation began in 300 BCE in Alexandria Egypt.

I always find it intriguing how those who don’t manifest much faith will criticize the Word during a time when an act of God is imminent. I suspect a surge in demand for real estate along the San Andreas by gay investors is also soon to be expected.
