That's not the point of this Dem show trial. Every Dem speaker has mentioned that they agree with the Reps and vice versa on almost all of the issues. The message is that they are not far apart on a deal.

That's what Chris Wallace said on FNC. He said what the Dims are trying to achieve by that is to go on to use Reconciliation to ram through the bill and then say that the Republicans agreed with it. Looks to me like the Republicans are at least respectfully defending their opposition to the monstrosity.

I thought Reconciliation could be used only on existing law rather than on a bill that hasn't even passed.

Reconciliation is supposed to be for existing bills and pertains only to budget, taxes up or down, things like that.

Republicans used reconciliation for the Bush tax cuts — Byrd has warned Democrats to not use it for health care and crap and tax.
